A considered reduction for a much-loved willow

You may remember our earlier post about a willow that had shed a major limb. We returned to carry out further management based on our recommendations.

The tree had split, leaving a large wound on the main stem. The loss of the limb had also changed the tree’s balance and wind loading, increasing the risk of further failures without management.

The customer chose a more sympathetic reduction rather than a full pollard. They love the tree and wanted to retain it for as long as possible.

This forms part of a long-term management plan, with further work expected as decay develops around the wound. Tree work is about managing risk while preserving trees where possible.
